These incidents are unfortunately very common in corporate sales. During my fifteen years with Fortune 100 companies, as a Black woman, I heard a lot of derogatory comments directed at my race and gender.
I made it out with a sliver of my soul still intact. When I reflect on these years, I feel a mix of anger, bitterness, and relief that I was smart and lucky enough to walk away.
Years of mindfulness practices have allowed me to recognize my worth and dedicate my energy to amplifying marginalized voices. Thank you for illuminating how intentional bias breeds institutional racism.
